Ingredients
  Oatmeal 2 Cup (32 tbs) (Regular / Quick Cooking)
  Boiling water 2 Cup (32 tbs), pour over oatmeal, mix and stand for 20 minutes
  Brown sugar 2 Cup (32 tbs), mixed with eggs and shortening
  Beaten eggs 4
  Shortening 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Flour 2 Cup (32 tbs), sift together with flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt
  Soda 1 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Directions

Mix together.
Add 1 cup chopped dates or raisins, 1 cup chopped nuts.
Bake 45 minutes to 1 hour at 350°.
