Date Cakes

Ingredients
  Butter 6 Ounce (175 Gram)
  Light brown sugar 4 Tablespoon
  Clear honey 4 Fluid Ounce
  Eggs 4 , lightly beaten
  Self raising flour 12 Ounce (350 Gram)
  Mixed spice 2 Teaspoon
  Milk 6 Fluid Ounce
  Dates 4 Ounce, finely chopped (115 Gram)
Directions

Beat the butter, sugar and honey together in a mixing bowl.
Gradually add the beaten eggs beating all the time.
Add 225 g - 8 oz of sifted flour and the mixed spice and fold in gently with a metal spoon.
Add sufficient milk to give a dropping consistency.
In a small, separate bowl sprinkle the 115 g - 4 oz of remaining flour and rub over the chopped dates.
This is to prevent the dates from sinking as they cook.
Add to the batter and fold in.
Spoon into 24 cake cases and cook for 20 minutes or until golden and springy to the touch.
