  Flour 2 Cup (32 tbs), sifted
  Baking powder 3 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Sugar 1 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Butter/Margarine or shortening 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs) (plus 2 tablespoons)

1. Start oven, set at Hot, 450° F. Rub a 9-inch square or round cake pan with margarine or shortening.Or add l 1/4-2 tablespoons sugar to a prepared biscuit mix. preparation time 15-20 min.
2. Sift the flour with the baking powder, salt and sugar. Gradually work in 1/3 cup of the butter or other shortening with a pastry blender, 2 knives or fingertips. Add the milk and mix thoroughly.
3. Turn the dough out on a lightly floured pastry board. Pat it out about 1/2-inch thick, divide in 2 equal parts. Place 1 part in the cake pan. Spread the top with melted butter or margarine, place the other half on top. Or cut the pastry with a biscuit cutter into 12 rounds. Spread 6 of them with melted butter or margarine and place the other 6 on top of them.
4. Bake 12 minutes.
5. Split and spread the bottom section with butter or margarine. Place on a serving platter. Arrange fruit on the lower layer. Top with the upper layer. Add more fruit and serve with heavy cream, plain or whipped; or with vanilla ice cream.
