|Pitted dates||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|All-purpose flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs), unsifted|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Date frosting||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Sugar until creamy.
Add eggs and process for 30 seconds.
Scrape sides of bowl with a spatula, then process for 1 minute or until light and creamy.
Add flour mixture and process with 3 on-off bursts.
Pour off cooled date water into batter and process with 2 on-off bursts.
Add vanilla and dates and process with 2 on-off bursts or just until dates are chopped.
Do not over process.
Pour into a greased 9-inch-square pan and bake in a 350° oven for 40 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool cake in pan, then serve.
