Chocolate Angel Delight
|Cold water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Unflavored gelatin||1⁄4 Ounce (1 Envelope)|
|Water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Semisweet chocolate chips||12 Ounce (1 Package)|
|Eggs||6 , separated|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Heavy cream||4 Cup (64 tbs), whipped|
|Chopped nuts||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Angel food cake cubes||2 Quart (Bite-Size Pieces)|
|Shaved chocolate||2 1⁄2 Tablespoon (For Garnish)|
|Cherries||1 Tablespoon (For Garnish)|
Place 1/4 cup cold water in a measuring cup.
Sprinkle gelatin on top and mix.
Microwave 15 to 30 seconds; stir.
In a 4-cup measure, place chocolate chips and the 1/4 cup water.
Microwave 2 minutes; stir until smooth.
Cool chocolate mixture.
Beat whites until stiff, but not dry.
Beat yolks with 1/4 cup sugar.
Fold in chocolate mixture, egg whites, vanilla, whipped cream, nuts and gelatin.
Spoon 2 cups chocolate mixture into a 10-inch tube pan.
Sprinkle with cake.
Alternate layers of chocolate mixture and cake, pressing cake into the chocolate.
Garnish with shaved chocolate and cherries.
