Cocoa Devil'S Food Cake
|Sifted cake flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Granulated sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Egg||1 , unbeaten|
|Canned milk/1/2 cup evaporated milk and 1/2 cup water||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Bottled Milk)|
|Vanilla extract||1 Teaspoon|
Sift flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa together 3 times.
Work shortening with a spoon until fluffy and creamy.
Gradually add sugar, while continuing to work with a spoon until light.
Add egg and beat very thoroughly.
Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk, a small amount at a time, beating until smooth after each addition.
Add vanilla, then bake in 2 greased and floured 8" layer cake pans in a moderate oven of 350°F for 30 min or until done.
