Sour Cream Spice Cake
|Sour cream||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Eggs||2 , lightly beaten|
|Sifted all purpose flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Ground cinnamon||1 Teaspoon|
|Ground cloves||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground nutmeg||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Chopped nuts/Chopped dates / 1/2 cup chopped raisins||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Crease and flour an 8"x 8"x 2" baking pan. In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, sugar, and eggs.
2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Stir into the sour cream mixture, then stir in the nuts.
3. Pour the batter into the pan and bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then remove the cake from the pan to the rack to cool completely. If you wish, frost the cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, or Butter Cream Frosting.
