Banana Filled Orange Layer Cake
|Soft butter/Margarine||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Orange||1⁄2 , rind grated|
|Sifted cake flour||2 3⁄4 Cup (44 tbs)|
|Baking powder||2 3⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Milk||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Fluffy white frosting||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Cream butter well; add sugar gradually, beating until fluffy.
Beat egg yolks until thick; add with rind to creamed mixture.
Mix all sifted dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk, beating until smooth.
Pour into 3 greased and floured 9-inch round layer-cake pans.
Bake in pre-heated moderate oven (375° F.) for about 20 minutes.
Cool for 5 minutes; turn out on racks.
Spread part of frosting and some sliced bananas between layers.
Use remaining frosting on top and sides.
Decorate top with a circle of sliced bananas.
Use recipe for the frosting or use Fluffy White Frosting mix.
