Dissolve sugar in 4 tablespoons of milk in a small mixing bowl.
Add butter and orange rind and cream well.
Add beaten eggs a little at a time.
Sift flour, fold in alternately with remaining milk.
Spoon mixture into greased and lined 9 in. x 5 in. loaf tin.
Bake in moderate oven, Mark 4, 350°F., 40 minutes.
