Beat whole eggs until light.
Gradually beat in sugar; continue beating until mixture is thick and sugar is completely dissolved .
Sift flour several times; melt butter in hot water.
Sift dry ingredients over egg mixture, fold in; then, working quickly, fold in the hot water and butter.
Pour into greased deep 8 in. cake tin, or until cake is elastic to touch and shrinking slightly from sides of tin.
Turn out at once on to wire tray.
When cold fill and decorate as liked.
