Chocolate Custard Devil's Food Cake
|Unsweetened chocolate||3 Ounce, melted|
|Milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Egg||1 , beaten|
|Sugar||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Egg yolks||2 , beaten|
|Cake flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Combine chocolate, 1/2 cup milk, whole egg, and % cup sugar.
Cook over low heat until thick.
Cream shortening and remaining cup sugar.
Add egg yolks and mix well.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with 1 cup milk and vanilla.
Stir in chocolate custard mixture.
Bake in 2 waxed-paper-lined 8-inch layer cake pans in moderate oven for 25 minutes.
