|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Vanilla extract||1 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
Pre-heat the oven to 350°F and grease and flour two 9 inch cake pans.
Cream the butter and sugar together in a mixing bowl.
Add the cocoa and mix well.
Add the egg to the batter.
Mix the flour and baking powder together and gradually add to the batter, alternately with the milk.
Stir well after each addition.
Stir in the vanilla and the baking soda.
Pour into the cake pans and bake for 25 minutes.
Allow to cool in the pan, then tip out and cool on a wire rack.
