Molasses Cake

Ingredients
  Boiling water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Packed brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Molasses 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Lard 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  All purpose flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
  Ground cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Ground allspice 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground cloves 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Egg 1 , beaten
  Raisins 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

In mixing bowl pour boiling water over sugar, molasses, and lard.
Stir together flour, baking soda, spices, and silt; stir into molasses mixture.
Add egg; beat till smooth.
Stir in raisins.
Pour into greased and floured 9x9x2-inch baking pan.
Bake at 375° till done, 30 to 35 minutes.
