Spiced Nutty Applesauce Cake
|All purpose flour||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
|Sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Salt||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Baking powder||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Canned applesauce||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Raisins||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Chopped walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Browned butter frosting/Satiny beige frosting||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (adjust quantity as needed)|
Heat oven to 350°.
Grease and flour oblong pan, 13 X 9 X 2 inches, or 2 round layer pans, 8 or 9 X 1 1/2 inches.
Measure all ingredients except frosting into large mixer bowl.
Blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly.
Beat 3 minutes on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
Pour batter into pan(s).
Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, oblong 60 to 65 minutes, layers 50 to 55 minutes.
Frost cake with Browned Butter Frosting.
