Host's Devil's Food Cake
|Sifted cake flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Butter||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Brown sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Eggs||2 , beaten light|
|Sour milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Chocolate squares/1/2 cup cocoa ,3 squares chocolate preferred||4 , melted over hot water|
Sift flour, measure, and add baking powder, soda and salt.
Sift 3 times.
Cream butter and add 1 cup of the sugar gradually.
Add second cup of sugar to the beaten eggs, mix well.
Combine egg and creamed mixtures.
Add flour along with the milk; add chocolate and vanilla.
Pour into 2 9-inch cake pans and bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
I always use square cake pans.
Ice as desired.
