Best Cake Doughnuts
|Eggs||4 , beaten|
|Sugar||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Milk||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs), melted|
|All purpose flour||3 1⁄2 Cup (56 tbs)|
|Baking powder||3 Teaspoon|
Beat eggs and sugar till light; add milk and cooled shortening.
Sift together dry ingredients; add to first mixture and mix well.
Chill dough thoroughly.
On lightly floured surface, roll dough 3/8 inch thick.
Cut with floured cutter; let stand 15 minutes.
Fry in deep, hot fat (375°) until brown, turning once.
Drain on paper towels.
While warm, shake in sack containing 1/2 cup sugar and 1 to 2 teaspoons cinnamon, if desired.
Makes 1 1/2 to 2 dozen.
Roll dough 1/4 inch thick.
Cut strips 3/4 inch wide.
Twist or form in knots.
Fry in deep hot fat (375°).
