Nutty Buttermilk Coffee Cake
|All purpose flour||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Packed brown sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Butter||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Ground nutmeg||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Buttermilk||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs) (or 12 cup dairy sour cream)|
|Egg||1 , beaten|
|Nuts||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), chopped|
In a medium bowl combine flour and brown sugar.
Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Set aside 1/4 cup of the crumb mixture.
To the remaining crumb mixture, add baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Add buttermilk and egg.
Spread batter in a greased 8x8x2-inch baking pan.
Stir together the reserved crumb mixture and nuts.
Sprinkle over batter.
