Cook apples in apple juice for 5 minutes or until tender.
Drain and reserve juice.
Melt butter in 13x9 cake pan.
Add 1/4 cup apple juice, brown sugar and apples.
Decorate with cherries and nuts.
Prepare cake according to package directions, using remaining apple juice for part of the liquid.
Pour batter over apples.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until cake tests done.
Invert hot cake on platter.
