Cowboy Coffee Cake
|All purpose flour||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
|Packed brown sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Shortening||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Baking powder||2 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground nutmeg||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Sour milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Eggs||2 , beaten|
|Nuts||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs), chopped|
In mixing bowl stir together flour, sugar, and salt.
Cut in shortening till mixture resembles coarse crumbs; reserve 1/2 cup for topping.
To remaining crumbs add baking powder, soda, and spices; mix well.
Add milk and eggs; mix well.
Turn into 2 greased and floured 8x1 1/2-inch or 9x1 1/2-inch round baking pans.
Combine the 1/2 cup reserved crumbs and nuts; sprinkle over batter.
Bake at 375° for 20 to 25 minutes.
