Chocolate Turtle Cake

  Food cake mix 18 1⁄4 Ounce (1 Package Devil's)
  Water 1 1⁄3 Cup (21.33 tbs)
  Vegetable oil 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Eggs 3
  Caramels 14 Ounce (1 Bag)
  Evaporated milk 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Chopped pecans 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Semi-sweet chocolate chips 6 Ounce (1 Bag)
  Semisweet chocolate chips 6 Ounce (1 Bag)
  Whipped cream/Whipped cream 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Ice cream/Whipped cream 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)

1. Heat oven to 350° Grease bottom and sides of rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches, with shortening; lightly flour. Make cake mix as directed on package, using water, oil and eggs. Pour half of the batter into pan. Bake 25 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, heat caramels and milk in 1-quart saucepan over medium heat about 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until caramels are melted. Pour and spread caramel over warm cake in pan. Sprinkle with pecans and chocolate chips. Spread with remaining batter.
3. Bake 30 minutes. Run knife around side of pan to loosen cake. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
