Autumn Apple Coffee Cake
|Sugar||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Flour||1 Cup (16 tbs), sifted|
|Baking powder||1 Tablespoon|
|Milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Quick-cooking oats||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Melted shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sliced peeled apples||4|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground nutmeg||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
Beat egg and 1/3 c. sugar together until creamy.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Add alternately with milk to egg mixture.
Stir in oats and melted shortening.
Spread half the batter in a greased 9" round baking pan.
Arrange apple slices over batter.
Spread remaining batter over apple, slices.
Combine 1/4 c.sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
Sprinkle over batter.
Bake in 375° oven 30 minutes or until done
