Applesauce Spice Cake
|All purpose flour||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
|Sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Salt||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground cinnamon||3⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Ground cloves||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground allspice||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Baking powder||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Applesauce||119⁄5000 Cup (0.38 tbs)|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Raisins||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped|
Heat oven to 350°.
Grease and flour rectangular pan, 13 x 9 x 2 inches, or 2 round pans, 8 or 9x1 1/2 inches.
Beat all ingredients except frosting in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds.
Beat on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 3 minutes.
Pour into pan(s).
Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, rectangular 60 to 65 minutes, layers 50 to 55 minutes.
Cool layers 10 minutes; remove from pans.
Frost rectangular or fill and frost layers with Browned Butter Frosting.
