Dinette Cake

Ingredients
  All purpose flour 1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs) (Gold Medal)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Milk 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Shortening 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Egg 1
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  French silk frosting 2 Tablespoon
Directions

Heat oven to 350°.
Grease and flour square pan, 8 x 8 x 2 or 9 x 9 x 2 inches, or round pan, 9 x 1 1/2 inches.
Beat all ingredients except frosting in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds.
Beat on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 3 minutes.
Pour into pan.
Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, square 35 to 40 minutes, round 35 minutes; cool.
Frost with French Silk Frosting.
