|Butter/Margarine||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Mixed dried fruit||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Grated nutmeg||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
Work the fat, sugar, dried fruit and grated nutmeg into the dough by squeezing and kneading by hand or with a food mixer until thoroughly mixed.
This results in a sticky dough.
Turn the dough into a well greased small 414 x 2 1/2 x 1 1/2-inch loaf pan and smooth the top.
Cover and let rise until the dough reaches the top of the pan. (Rich mixtures such as this take longer to rise and it will probably take at least 1 1/2 hours in a warm place, longer in a cool place.) Bake in the center of a moderately hot oven (400°F) for 35-40 minutes.
Remove from the pan and brush the top of the hot loaf with a wet brush dipped in honey or with a sugar glaze.
Leave to cool.
