Cocoa Spice Cake

Ingredients
  Flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Cocoa 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 2 Teaspoon
  Cloves 1 Teaspoon
  Nutmeg 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Vegetable shortening 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), softened
  Granulated sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Eggs 3 , separated
  Sour cream 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Directions

Sift together 3 times the flour, cocoa, salt, soda and spices.
Cream shortening with brown sugar replacement until fluffy.
Beat egg yolks thoroughly and add to batter.
Add sifted dry ingredients and sour cream alternately in small amounts, beating well after each addition.
Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry, and fold into batter.
Pour into greased 9 in. (23 cm) square pan.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40 to 50 minutes or until cake tests done.
