Jolly Ole Saint Nick Cake
|Yellow cake mix||36 1⁄2 Ounce (Two 18.25 Ounce Each Package, Plus Ingredients To Prepare Mixes)|
|Vanilla frosting||48 Ounce, divided (Three 16 Ounce Containers)|
|Red food coloring||3 Drop|
|Chocolate sprinkles||1 Tablespoon|
|Black licorice||2 Drop|
|Black licorice whip||1 Tablespoon|
|Red candy||1 Drop|
|Dark brown candy coated chocolate pieces||2|
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Grease and flour one 13x9-inch baking pan and two 8-inch round cake pans.
Prepare cake mixes according to package directions.
Divide among pans.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean.
Cool in pans on wire racks 10 minutes.
Remove from pans; cool completely.
Using diagrams 1 and 2 as guides, cut out pieces.
Combine 1 container frosting and milk.
Position pieces on 18-inch square cake board or large tray as shown in diagram 3, connecting with some of the thinned frosting.
Frost entire cake with remaining thinned frosting.
Frost face area, ball of hat, mittens and boots with some of the frosting from second container, reserving remaining for piping.
Color the third container of frosting with red food coloring.
Frost hat, shirt and pants with red frosting, reserving small portion for piping.
Using pastry bag, medium star tip and red frosting, pipe design on hat.
Using reserved white frosting, pipe beard, cuffs and trim of hat.
Decorate with candies.
