|Oil||1 Tablespoon (For Greasing)|
|Superfine sugar||1 Teaspoon (Leveled)|
|Self rising flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs), sifted|
|Apple pie spice||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Soft margarine||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Dark brown sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Stoned chopped dates||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Gravy coloring||1 Teaspoon|
1 Lightly brush a 19cm/7 1/2 inch souffle dish with oil and coat the base and sides with a sprinkling of sugar; knock out any surplus.
2 Sift the flour and spice into a mixing bowl and rub in the fat.
3 Add the sugar and dates, and mix well.
4 Beat together the eggs, milk, treacle (molasses) and gravy browning (coloring). Stir into the dry ingredients and mix well to combine.
5 Pour the cake mixture into the prepared dish. Level the top. Do not cover.
6 Microwave on full power for 5 1/2 minutes, giving the dish a half turn, half way through cooking, if necessary.
7 Allow to stand, covered with a clean tea (dish) towel, for 6 minutes.
8 Turn out onto a cooling rack and allow to cool completely.
