Almond Nut Cake

Nut Cake is an amazingly delicious dessert recipe. Serve this Nut Cake; I am sure you will always be tempted to prepare this for every party!
Ingredients
  Eggs 12 , separated
  Blanched ground almonds 3⁄4 Pound
  Sugar 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Zwieback 16 , finely crushed
  Shelled ground walnuts 3⁄4 Pound
  Orange 1 , rind grated
  Rum syrup 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
Directions

Grease a 16X13X3 inch pan.
Beat egg whites until stiff and set aside.
Beat yolks with sugar until thick and pale in color.
Beat in vanilla.
Mix nuts, zwieback, and rind together.
Gradually fold beaten egg whites into yolk mixture and fold in nut mixture.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake in a 350 degree oven for exactly 1 hour.
While cake is baking, make the syrup.
Pour the syrup over the cake the moment it is taken from the oven.
Cool and, before serving, cut into diamond shaped serving pieces.
