|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Buttermilk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Cake flour||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
Combine first 6 ingredients, mixing well.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.
Bake in two 9" layer pans that have been greased and floured at 350° for 30 minutes.
