Sweet Apple Bake
|Butter||1 Cup (16 tbs), melted|
|Zwieback||6 Ounce, crushed (1 Box)|
|Granulated sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Apples||6 , peeled and sliced|
Heat butter in a skillet until it becomes a deep brown but is not burned.
Mix zwieback crumbs and sugar in a bowl; add browned butter.
Place a layer of apples in a greased 9 inch casserole, then a layer of crumb mixture; repeat until casserole is filled, reserving enough of crumb mixture to cover top of casserole.
Mixture should be about 3 to 4 inches deep.
Bake in a 350°F oven 1 1/2 hours.
