Ingredients
  Shortening 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Brown sugar 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Egg 1
  Baking soda 1 Teaspoon, dissolved in 1 cup milk
  Milk 1 Cup (16 tbs) (For Dissolving The Baking Soda)
  Flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Chopped rhubarb 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs) (Raw)
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Directions

Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and vanilla.
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk; add rhubarb.
Spread into large square pan; sprinkle with topping: 1/2 cup brown sugar 2 tsp. butter 1 tsp. cinnamon.
Bake at 350° 30 minutes.
