Pioneer'S New Year Celebration Cake
|Butter||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Vanilla extract||1 Teaspoon|
|Eggs||3 , well beaten|
|Cake flour||2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Tablespoon|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Blanched almonds||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Candied cherries||12 , cut into halves|
Cream butter, vanilla extract, and 1 cup sugar.
Add eggs gradually, beating thoroughly.
Mix cake flour and baking powder.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
Turn into a greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan and spread to corners.
Sprinkle with 2 teaspoons sugar and decorate with almonds and cherries.
Bake at 400°F 15 minutes, at 375°F 15 minutes, and at 350°F 25 minutes.
