Steamed Cabbage

Ingredients
  Cabbage 3 Pound (Use Red Or White Ones)
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Lard 2 1⁄2 Ounce
  Onions 2 Ounce
  Sugar 1 Tablespoon
  Caraway seeds 1 Pinch
  Vinegar 1 Tablespoon
  Red wine 2 Tablespoon
Directions

Trim and shred cabbages.
Sprinkle with salt and let stand for at least half an hour.
Fry sliced onion rings in lard till golden brown, add the vinegar, a little water, the shredded cabbage, salt, sugar and caraway seeds.
Steam under lid until tender, add wine. (Wine may be omitted.)
