Sweet And Sour Red Cabbage With Apples

Ingredients
  Bacon drippings/Butter 3 Tablespoon
  Finely chopped onions 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Shredded red cabbage 9 Cup (144 tbs) (1 Medium Head)
  Cored diced tart apples 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Cider vinegar 3 Tablespoon
  Brown sugar 3 Tablespoon
  Caraway seeds 1 Tablespoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Freshly ground pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Raisins 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
Directions

Melt drippings or butter in a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan.
Saute the onion lightly in the fat, about 5 minutes.
Add the cabbage.
Stir well to coat the cabbage, cover, and continue cooking over moderate heat for 5 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients.
Stir well.
Cover and cook about another 10 minutes until the cabbage is tender but not mushy.
