Red Cabbage And Chestnuts
|Red cabbage||1 Medium, shredded|
|Beef bouillon||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Cider vinegar||2 Teaspoon|
|Chestnuts||20 , boiled, peeled, and coarsely chopped|
|Bacon drippings||2 Tablespoon|
1. In a stock pot or a large saucepan, combine cabbage, bouillon, vinegar, salt, and pepper.
2. Cover the pot with its lid and place on a medium low flame.
3. Steam cabbage for 20-25 minutes until it is almost tender.
4. Tip in the chestnuts and bacon drippings and cook, uncovered for 5-7 minutes till liquid is reduced and the cabbage is tender.
5. Dish out and serve hot.
