Red Cabbage With Apple
|Red cabbage||1 Medium|
|Wine vinegar||4 Tablespoon|
|Bacon drippings/Shortening||1 Tablespoon|
|Peeled cored apple||1⁄2|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|White wine/Champagne||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
Clean, core and shred cabbage.
Toss with vinegar, salt and sugar.
Saute onion in drippings.
Add cabbage, apple, 1/2 cup water.
Cover and cook until tender but not overdone.
Make a paste of flour and a little cool water.
Add to cabbage and cook a few minutes longer.
Add wine just before serving.
