Combine the vegetables and salt in a large bowl.
Combine the dry ingredients with enough vinegar to make a smooth paste.
Pour the remaining vinegar in a large kettle and bring to a boil.
Stir in the paste and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce is smooth.
Add the cabbage mixture and bring again to a boil.
Simmer for 10 minutes, then pack in hot sterilized jars and seal.
