Sweet-Sour Red Cabbage

Ingredients
  Red cabbage 2 Pound (1 Medium Sized Head)
  Onion 1 Small, diced
  Shortening 2 Tablespoon
  Apple 1 , cut into quarters
  Water 1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)
  Vinegar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon
  Whole cloves 4
  Flour 2 Tablespoon
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
Directions

Grate or slice cabbage into small pieces.
Brown onion in shortening.
Add all ingredients except flour.
Cover; cook until cabbage is tender, about 30 to 35 min.
Thicken with flour.
