Remove the hard core from a 3 pound cabbage.
Cut the cabbage in quarters.
Wrap a slice of bacon around each quarter and place in a colander.
Place the colander over a large pot so that the cabbage can steam.
Put 1 quart water in the pot and steam for 30 minutes.
Pour melted butter over the cabbage, salt and pepper, and serve.
