Sweet-Sour Spiced Red Cabbage

Ingredients
  Red cabbage 1 Medium, shredded
  Bacon drippings/Butter 3 Tablespoon
  Apples 2 Small, thinly sliced
  Whole cloves 5
  Caraway seed 1 Teaspoon
  Salt To Taste
  Vinegar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Sugar 2 Tablespoon
Directions

Rinse shredded cabbage with cold water.
Melt the bacon drippings or butter in a large, heavy frying pan; add the cabbage, apples, cloves, caraway seed, and salt.
Cover and cook slowly for 20 to 25 minutes, or until cabbage is tender.
Add vinegar and sugar (or more vinegar and sugar to taste); simmer 5 minutes.
