Sweet And Sour Cabbage

Ingredients
  Bacon slices 4
  Head red cabbage 1 Large
  Apples 2 Medium
  Sugar 1 Tablespoon
  Bay leaf 1
  Ground cloves 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Ground allspice 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Ground pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Vinegar 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Brown sugar 3 Tablespoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
Directions

Cook bacon until crisp in large skillet.
Drain on paper towels.
Reserve 1 tablespoon bacon drippings.
Crumble bacon and set aside.
Add cabbage, apples, sugar, bay leaf, cloves, allspice and pepper.
Cook, covered, over medium heat for 5 minutes.
Uncover and cook about 15 minutes more, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender.
Remove bay leaf; add vinegar, brown sugar and salt.
Stir in bacon.
