Frosted Butterscotch Squares
|Broken nut meats||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Flour||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Dark brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Pressed Down In A Cup)|
|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
Melt butter, stir in sugar and cook until melted.
Stir in unbeaten egg and mix well.
Sift dry ingredients together and add to sugar-butter-egg mixture, then add the vanilla and nuts.
Bake in a greased paper-lined square cake pan, in 325-degree oven for 25 minutes.
Cool in pan, cut in squares and ice with following: Melt 1 tablespoon of butter, add 1 cup confectioners' sugar, enough thin cream to spread and vanilla to taste.
