Butter Nut Balls

Ingredients
  Butter 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Eggs 2 , separated
  Lemon rind 1 Teaspoon
  All purpose flour 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
  Milk 2 Tablespoon
  Chopped walnuts 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Glazed cherries 15
Directions

Cream butter till soft and smooth.
Add sugar gradually, creaming after each addition.
Blend in egg yolks, rind and beat until fluffy.
Add half the flour, then milk and remaining flour.
Knead slightly to blend thoroughly.
Shape into balls size of a walnut.
Dip into slightly beaten egg white, then into nuts.
Place on greased baking sheets.
Press half a cherry in center of each cookie.
Bake at 350° F. (moderate) for 20 to 23 minutes.
Cool on cake racks.
Makes 2 to 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
