Buttermilk Chocolate Drops
|Packed light brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Unsweetened chocolate square||4 Ounce, melted (4 Squares)|
|Vanilla extract||1 Teaspoon|
|All purpose flour||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)|
|Baking powder||2 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Buttermilk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a mixer bowl cream brown sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
Add chocolate, egg and vanilla; mix well.
In a small bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; mix lightly.
To the creamed mixture add the dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, mixing well after each addition.
Grease cookie sheets lightly or use nonstick cookie sheets.
Onto the prepared cookie sheets drop dough by teaspoon-fuls.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until brown.
