Gourmet Gruyere Burgers

Ingredients
  Onion/Null 1 Medium, finely chopped (Null)
  Vegetable oil/Null 1 Tablespoon (Null)
  Lean ground beef/Null 1 1⁄2 Pound (Null)
  Garlic/Null 1 Clove (5 gm), crushed (Null)
  Salt/Null To Taste (Null)
  Freshly ground black pepper/Null 1 (Null)
  Hamburger rolls/Null 6 (Null)
  Grated gruyere cheese/Null 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs) (Null)
  Dijon mustard/Null 3 Tablespoon (Null)
  Crisply fried bacon/Null 1 Ounce, crumbled (For Garnish)
  Avocado slices/Null 4 (For Garnish)
  Tomato slices/Null 4 (For Garnish)
Directions

Saute onion in oil until it is just browned.
Place onion in a bowl, then add ground beef, garlic, salt and pepper.
Shape into 6 patties.
Put patties in hinged wire grill and place over a solid bed of glowing coals.
Cook about 6 minutes.
Turn burgers and cook second side for 4 minutes.
Place hamburger rolls cut-side down on the barbecue grill to toast.
Top each patty with grated Gruyere cheese and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
