|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Light brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs), firmly packed|
|Flour||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), sifted|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped|
Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat Remove from heat and stir in sugar.
Mix until blended.
Stir in egg.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Add to butter mixture and blend well.
Stir in vanilla and nuts.
Pour into a greased and floured, 8-inch-square pan.
Bake in a moderate oven (350° F) 20 to 25 minutes.
Cut into squares while warm.
