Applesauce Raisin Brownies

Ingredients
  Butter/Margarine 6 Tablespoon
  Firmly packed brown sugar 1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)
  Applesauce 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Egg 1
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  All purpose flour 1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground nutmeg 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Raisins 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Chopped nuts 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

Melt butter in a small pan over medium-low heat.
Remove from heat and stir in sugar; then stir in applesauce, egg, and vanilla.
In a bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, baking soda, and nutmeg; add applesauce mixture and blend thoroughly.
Add raisins and nuts; stir until well combined.
Spread batter evenly in a greased 9 by 13-inch baking pan.
Bake in a 350° oven for 25 minutes or until a pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Let cool completely in pan on a rack.
If desired, prepare orange frosting and spread over cooled brownie; then garnish with orange zest.
Cut into bars (about 1 1/2 by 3 inches) or squares (about 2 1/4 by 2 1/4 inches).
Store covered.
