Old Country Baked Brisket
|Beef brisket||4 Pound|
|Catsup||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Worcestershire sauce||2 Tablespoon (Original)|
|Lemon juice||1 Tablespoon|
|Dark brown sugar||2 Tablespoon|
|Tabasco sauce||1⁄8 Teaspoon|
Place meat in a large casserole or baking pan.
Place meat in a preheated 450° F oven; brown well, about 25 minutes on each side.
Meanwhile, combine catsup, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, sugar, salt and Tabasco sauce; mix well.
Reduce oven to 325° F.
Pour Worcestershire sauce mixture over meat; cover.
Bake until tender, about 3 hours, basting occasionally.
Remove meat to a platter or carving board; skim fat from pan juices.
Thinly slice brisket; spoon pan juice over meat.
If desired, thicken pan juice with 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water. (Even better if served the next day, heated in pan juices in oven or on top of stove.)
