|Hot strong tea||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Dates||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped|
|Raisins||1 Cup (16 tbs), washed|
|Brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Egg||1 , beaten|
|All purpose flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
Pour tea over fruit and sugar and let stand overnight.
Next morning stir in egg, then flour, baking powder, soda and salt sifted together.
Turn into greased loaf pan and bake at 300F for 11/2 hours.
Turn onto wire rack to cool.
To serve, slice and butter
