The brambrack is a rich currant cake with its origins in Ireland. This recipe for brambrack is prepared with dates, raisins and mixed peels for flavor. Baked with flour, sugar and strong hot tea, the barmbrack is rich in flavor and taste and can be served as dessert or with tea.
Ingredients
  Hot strong tea 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Dates 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped
  Raisins 1 Cup (16 tbs), washed
  Brown sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Egg 1 , beaten
  All purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Soda 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
Directions

Pour tea over fruit and sugar and let stand overnight.
Next morning stir in egg, then flour, baking powder, soda and salt sifted together.
Turn into greased loaf pan and bake at 300F for 11/2 hours.
Turn onto wire rack to cool.
To serve, slice and butter
