Steamed Molasses Bread
|All bran cereal||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Whole wheat flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Baking powder||2 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Raisins||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sour milk/Buttermilk||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)|
|Dark molasses||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
In medium bowl, combine bran, flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and raisins.
In another bowl, beat the egg; add sour milk and molasses.
Blend in dry ingredients; do not overbeat.
Pour into greased and floured 8-cup mold or can.
Cover with foil; tie.
Place rack in slow-cooking pot.
Pour 2 cups hot water in pot.
Place covered bread container on rack.
Cover pot and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours.
Turn bread out on cooling rack.
Serve warm or cool.
